Hospitality, Catering and Leisure

In addition to first aid and other relevant safety training requirements, of paramount importance to those in the hospitality, catering and leisure sector is the issue of food training. The industry’s watchdog is the Food Standards Agency, responsible for food safety and hygiene, and enforcing good practice in food handling and storage.

In this sector Meditrain Limited has delivered training courses to:

A prime example of one visitor attraction benefiting from Meditrain’s training is West Yorkshire’s Ponderosa Park with its restaurant in award-winning gardens. Ponderosa’s Therapeutic Farm and Woodlands Conferencing Centre helps people with mixed abilities from all sections of the community, and its Lakeside Restaurant caters for up to 150 guests. Meditrain’s courses enabled Ponderosa’s kitchen and front-of-house staff to attain certificates in first aid and food safety training.

Other training projects in this sector include Meditrain’s collaboration with Manchester City Council’s Leisure Services. This culminated in 2008 with the City Council’s Partnership in Training Award for its quality courses covering the Health and Safety Executive syllabus.

"Meditrain has for many years been a source of training for our First Aiders; the calibre of their instruction and assessment is always excellent and enjoyable."
