
Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
This qualification is based on the Ofsted guidelines for people who work with, or look after children to enable them to have a basic knowledge of how to deal with paediatric first aid situations, illnesses, injuries and emergencies.
Aim of Qualification
The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of:
- Paediatric first aids situations
- Paediatric illness, injuries and emergencies
Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in situations which can arise when looking after children.

- Defining an infant or child for the purposes of first aid treatment
- Emergency Procedure
- Unconscious casualty
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Seizures
- Choking
- Bleeding & Shock
- Anaphylactic Shock
- Fractures, Strains and Sprains
- Head & spinal injury
- Foreign Bodies (eyes, ears and nose)
- Eye Injuries
- Sickle Cell crisis
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- Meningitis
- Febrile convulsions
- Exposure to extreme heat
- Exposure to extreme cold
- Electric shock
- Burns and scalds
- Poisons
- Bites and stings
- Minor Injuries
- Record reporting
